Homed Stuck
Possible future SU plot point - someone connected to the good guys (maybe Peridot?) figures out a way to fuel Gem creation directly with sunlight (which is the original energy source of most organic life in any case) rather than draining the energy from the local biosphere. This means Gems could, theoretically, reproduce anywhere with appropriate geology and enough sun, without needing to parasitize an existing ecosystem. Now the dilemma - do they tell Homeworld about this?
Pros: Sustainability! No need to ruin life-supporting planets anymore when the universe is full of uninhabited balls of rock.
Cons: Congratulations, you just drastically increased the resources and potential personnel of a ruthless space empire!
Biggest thing I’m looking forward to with Infinity War is actually settling the MCU space language question. Because I have a few potential theories:
The MCU space opera setting has some kind of little universal translator doohickey/babel fish. It just wasn’t designed to handle tree-person communication.
Everyone’s speaking some kind of Space Common. Peter was abducted as a pre-teen, so he’s had plenty of time to learn the lingo, especially since kids tend to pick up languages better.
Peter is speaking English, the aliens are speaking their languages (or Space Common when they talk to each other), but Peter can understand and make himself understood anyway because he’s half space-god.
Aliens are literally speaking English *MST3K Mantra*
You might think “why does this matter?” and you would have a point. But the fun of a shared universe is doing silly crossovers between the different cast clusters. Which means that I need to have an answer to the language-barrier-or-lack-thereof question.
Random fan speculation: Sam Wilson as the love interest in the Captain Marvel movie? I have no reason to believe that this is actually going to happen, but why not? Sam doesn’t have a love interest in the MCU yet, and Anthony Mackie is good at bringing the flirty chemistry with pretty much anyone. Carol doesn’t really have an iconic canonical love interest to import to the movie, as far as I know - SpiderMarvel’s popular but wouldn’t really work in the MCU because this version of Peter is way too young. And Sam and Carol both love to fly.
By fandom osmosis, it looks like BBC Sherlock still hasn’t found a healthy self-esteem equilibrium point that doesn’t topple over into “Insufferable Genius” or “I’m only good for my exceptional skills,” which seems plausible enough for someone with his particular gifts and weaknesses but is still kind of depressing.
Wait... if Valkyrie isn’t going to be Thor’s love interest, maybe she’s going to be Bruce’s love interest? Finally, a man she doesn’t have to climb a stepladder to kiss! (Not that that can’t be fun...)
And so the Asgardian fetish for human nerds continues...
Okay, but can anyone prove that Spider-man is not Simone Biles in spider-drag?
Inspired by that Trans Man Jesus post
If the business from the prequels about Anakin being a Force-baby is still canon, then presumably he got all his genetic material from Shmi. So, trans man Anakin.
I don’t know what gender reassignment procedures are out there in the GFFA, but I’m gonna assume that Jedi medical covered Anakin’s Space T, but nothing fertility-related because Jedi are supposed to be celibate and wouldn’t need it. The twins were also Force-babies, because that’s what happens when a demigod space wizard with a burning need for love and connection and absolutely no chill gets married.
Then there are still been no Y chromosomes in the Skywalker line, so Luke, presumably, would also be a trans man. Which means that Rey might be another Force-baby.
