The funniest trans headcanon for the Fire Siblings is that they're both trans and they just took each other's deadname. Their mother was supportive and their father just didn't notice because he doesn't give a fuck about his kids.

when it's mentioned that a transfem egg reading of a character makes more sense than a popular post-transition transmasc one I've seen and had people push back with things like "well transmascs can also struggle with masculinity and feeling othered from other men or even think we're men when we're not and struggle with our identity etc..." and it's like, sure, that all is true about us! but the problem is this is all being said about characters where you have to bend over backwards to make the idea that they were cafab and have transitioned to a point where they are passing as a cis man make even the smallest bit of sense in canon

like, for my girl Jesse, you have to produce an explanation for why her being transmasc would never be brought up! like Walt's known her since high school and there is no way he wouldn't use Jesse being trans as a point of belittlement or manipulation - and if you want to try and dodge Walt knowing she's trans by having Jesse transition before he was in high school well then you have to make the idea of Jesse's piece of shit parents letting him transition before then make sense, and there is no satisfying way to do that

or for a more extreme example, with Hunter from The Owl House you need to come up with some reason for this character who is a clone of a late 16th/early 17th century puritan man who took part in witch hunts to be trans as well, and then you have come up with a reason that Belos, an abusive man of the same background who killed his brother when he fell in love with a witch, would actually respect that Hunter is transmasc which is just laughable

and these things do mean that the transfem egg readings makes more sense!! while maybe both trans headcanons can pull from the lens of having to contend with identity and masculinity and otherness and all that, the transmasc headcanon scrambles to justify its compatibility with the story while the transfem headcanon slides into the existing text with no resistance (also tbh in trying to force the transmasc headcanon to work with canon, you end up abandoning things that would actually be interesting to explore with it in an AU, it makes it a worse exploration of the character as transmasc)
