Liches are not conventional in this setting. They are beings of pure Will, which means that the source of their immortality is their bones, thus giving liches their new name: Bone Keepers. The Ribbon Monks are very closely tied to Bone Keepers, as the ones who bring that immortality to a close in a most ceremonious manner. For a Bone Keeper to be put to a final death, each of their bones must be reduced to a fine powder and scattered on the wind. If fate has it, the dust may mostly collect in one spot and the desert, Tephtheith reaches for it and creates a Memory Amber out of it. Often, Bone Keepers seek out the Ribbon Monks willingly. Lucidity in the face of eternity is worse than death, after all. This is what separates the Blood Takers and the Bone Keepers most; the Blood Takers can meditate as long as it takes but can die through normal means, whilst Bone Keepers cannot die through conventional means and cannot sleep away the march of time.
