"Walbmännlein", as best as I can tell, translates to something like "little woodman" or "little forest man" or something to that effect. I don't know, my German is terrible.

The Deep.

(Coloured pencils and fine liner. For this A4 sketchbook piece I used two sets of coloured pencils to collate a cogent palette of causal tones. The aim was to merge this notion of underwater sea life with that of abstracted shaping and vibrancy, depicting pin-pricks of light emitting a glow that lights up the sea, and juxtaposes the silhouettes of the surrounding creatures. In theory this piece would be presented as a two-page spread in an illustrated children’s book, the busy-ness reflecting the flourishing, intermingled sea-life.)

I hope to eventually buy a scanner to make some better copies of my pieces, but for now we'll have to settle for sub-par photographs.
