Also in Moffat's time we had River Song who then married the Eleventh Doctor, which was kiiinda huge for various reasons. I just think that OP left out some details just to make it fit their personal agenda. I see their side sort of but I also see things missing.
I'm afraid I can't speak for OP, but I know my own view is that while Moffat introduced a great many characters that were fun to watch and lovely in their own ways, they were all the same type of characters, especially the women: Amy, River and Clara are all perky, mysterious ladies whose lives revolve around the Doctor.
One of the reasons I used to love Doctor Who was that a companion could literally be anyone: a working class shop girl, a medical student, a temp, etc. Women and men of all shapes and sizes and colours! However, I don't see that in Moffat's run- and that makes me sad and unable to enjoy the show like I once did.
That's why I reblogged the post pointing out the disparity in kinds of characters. I'm glad you can still enjoy Doctor Who! I loved Rory and Amy and River too (can't speak for Clara, I'm afraid- I stopped watching before she was introduced). However, I hope that we get some different kinds of companions soon :)
