Sausage sizzles are a common Australian and New Zealand charity fundraising and community event (at hardware stores and what is basically our version of Walmart ("The Warehouse"), named in relation to the food cooked and sold. Consisting of a barbecued sausage served on a slice of white bread (which is not sweet and/or disgusting like white bread seems to be here), or on a bread roll (lies, only ever bread), these are often also called "Sausage sizzle", and may be accompanied by tomato sauce, mustard, and sometimes barbecued onions. All ingredients are usually purchased as cheaply as possible, so as to maximise fundraising (and because $1 for a sausage in a piece of bread still seems amazing)
