The mirror lied. He was sure of it.
The mirror had to be lying to him. Of course it was. It, more than anything, had to be some cruel, dark mockery.
But he was too smart to be fooled.
Yes, he was too, too smart.
His nose had never been that shape. His eyes had never been that colour. His lips had never been this blood-stained and plump.
Never. Never. Never.
He reached up to his face, gripped his nose with two grubby fingers, and twisted.
He pressed his thumbs into his eyes.
He chewed on the flesh of his lips.
And he reshaped and he reshaped and he reshaped with his magic... until everything was perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
But then the mirror lied again.
