I miss Fantasy Online.
I just today found out that an MMORPG that I used to be absolutely addicted to is being remade! Not only that, but it is officially in open beta, and I even played on it for about an hour!
The game is called Fantasy Online. It's a very basic pixel style mmorpg, but it is seriously so fun. The community was awesome back in the day, and I made a bunch of friends who I have unfortunately lost contact with :(. The game used to have its own forums and wiki and everything.
It shut down suddenly in 2014. I tried a few mmorpgs since then, but nothing had the same feel as Fantasy Online. They were too complex, or the player bases were too closed off and elitist.
I'm super excited about the return of Fantasy Online! Here's hoping it can be restored to its former glory.
Here's a screenshot of the game (taken by N-, who is the developer). Like I said, it's very basic pixel graphics, but it is somehow so addictive. Not much has been implemented yet, but the developer is striving for one update per week. As it stands, it was just so cool to be able to visit the noob area again after all these years.
