Hi! Could you give me any book/ media recommendations for fantasy?
HI HI HI HI YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE fantasy is my thing!! if you want you can send another ask with books/media you like for more specific recs, for now i'll just go down my list of favorites (all YA novels btw, if you want children's or adults or graphic novels or short stories lmk and i'll make another list)
ok so my absolute FAVORITE book series is Little Thieves by Margaret Owen, i love it to death. the first book is an adaptation of the goose girl fairytale, told from the maid's POV, and it is truly so concisely done and explores trauma while also keeping a light and humorous tone. content warnings are in the book.
another good book i read recently is The Midland Throne by KM Gallagher, it's about a very practical competition with trials for a princess' hand. focuses very much on character dynamics, so if you like that do read!! i posted a review of it earlier! features murder.
if you prefer high fantasy books like Six of Crows, I would recommend A Tempest of Tea and The Gilded Wolves series, they are both heists as well.
on the other hand, if you like very low fantasy to the point where the fantasy aspect is mostly used for symbolic purposes, I would recommend Last Bus to Everland by Sophie Cameron and The Past And Other Things That Should Stay Buried. also The Year of Shadows by Claire Legrand, it's middle grade but again i love it to death.
oh and if you would like TV shows, i really love Dead Boy Detectives and The Good Place. Locke and Key was also very good, i never finished bc i spoiled it for myself but it was good. I've started watching Arcane, and that is also very good so far but I haven't finished it yet. (Edit: I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT SCHOOL SPIRITS it's really good watch it!) Movies...How To Train Your Dragon and Studio Ghibli movies have been on my list for a long time, so those i would say should be watched. if you'd go as far as related music, Janani K Jha has an mythology inspired album with a companion novella Kathaton!
