Today, we invite you to meet one of our favorite people, Karen Mockensturm, Executive Director of Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater & Academy
How many years have you been in (this) business in Huntsville?
I can’t remember exactly, somewhere between 5 and 10. Time flies when you’re having fun!
What is unique about Fantasy Playhouse?
Fantasy Playhouse is the only professional theatre arts education organization of its kind in North Alabama. We are dedicated to introducing theatre arts to children aged 3 and up, whether through high-quality entertainment for families or by providing hands on instruction in theatre arts. We know that while not every Fantasy kid will go on to become a Broadway star, they will harness the lessons learned in our classes into academic and career success, no matter their field!
What does "LOCAL" mean to you?
"Local" means "familiar"…"safe"…"family.” Local means pride -- pride in community.
What is your favorite thing about Huntsville?
That we are a community of Big Dreamers, who work together for the greater good of all. And our impact is felt beyond our borders, beyond our atmosphere.
I'm so grateful to be part of this community doing what I love- encouraging kids to play, grow, and dream!
