So Much For Stardust by Cringe_Is_Dead (A_Plethora_Of_Peters) - THIS IS PEAK! You can read this on Ao3, it's technically a Life Series fic but honestly you don't even have to know what that is to enjoy/understand this. To quote the description, "According to Council Records, the Fulger Ovium Zedaph Pleighs and his two co-workers - the Ignis Petra Tango of the Tek Clan and the Inferni ImpulseSV - are officially called Sapience Outreach Specialists. They jokingly refer to themselves though as the First Contact Crew. It's up to them to determine the sentience and sapience of all races that either volunteer or are brought to them by the council. And recently the council brought them one hell of a challenge: determine the sentience and sapience of a recently discovered species called Terrans using an individual they named Blue. Meanwhile, Skizz just wants to be treated like a person by the aliens that abducted him and go back to Earth. . ." This one is SO GOOD!! I'm not joking I've genuinely had dreams about it getting a new update before because I'm so obsessed with it. As stated in the tags, the main focus of it is hurt/comfort and it's so cute and so angsty at the same time. Plus this one is really popular so there's a TON of fanart made for it, and the author has put them in the text in accordance with each scene, and all of the artists are all SO FREAKING TALENTED!! You seriously NEED to read this, trust me it's so entertaining. Out of everything on this list, I would say this one is the most humans-are-space-orc-y.
Humans Don't Make Good Pets by u/guidosbestfriend on reddit - OH. MY. GOD. I love this one sm, it follows a human after being abducted by an alien race known as the Corti, used for cruel experiments as he's transported farther and farther away from home. . . Until he gets recused (?) that is. He awakens to tall giraffe-like aliens looming over him after being sedated by one of the Corti, unbeknownst to him they're a well-meaning yet oblivious family running a cargo ship. Tnnxz wants the thing off his fucking ship, but his kids are giving him just the biggest puppy dog eyes and asking if they can keep it. . . How can he say no? Thats how our main character finds himself the new pet of this odd group, although it won't be for long. . . This one is a must-read, it's very comedic and written from multiple perspectives with a wide range of characters. My favorite thing about this one is the sheer amount of plot twists it has, seriously you CANNOT guess where it's going to head. Anything that could possibly happen to the main character WILL happen to him; it's such a fun read. Just like the next story on this list, you can also read this by going to YouTube and listening to NetNarrator read it.
Humans Don't make Good Familiars by Garret Copeland - You can buy this and read as a physical copy (I would recommend) BUT you can also read it by going to youtube and listening to Net Narrator read it, I used to pause the video and read it because he puts the words up as he reads, before I bought the physical copy. To quote ArcAngel98 from RouteRoad "Suma, a mage from another world, accidently summons one of the most powerful familiars her world has ever seen. . . A normal British teenager. Born with a natural affinity for Chaos Magic that manifested itself once entering her world, Jake becomes a caring friend to the young mage, and a formidable enemy to those who dare hurt her. But Suma's world is plagued by war, and Suma has been drafted." This was one of the first HASO stories I ever read and it's honestly so fun, once you read the first chapter you can't stop yourself from reading. The story is super fun and engaging, if you like the Iseki trope be sure to check this out. I also think you can read this on reddit.
VIDEO/MEDIA:
Alien Abduction by Macaldla Reye on YouTube - OH. MY. GOD. I love this one so much, it's TECHNICALLY an ASMR series but it gets so action packed and tense you will NOT be relaxed, just invested in the plot. (Beginning is lowkey buns ngl) It starts out more on the ASMR side but honestly you can just skip the ASMR sounds and go to the dialogue if you want, it's what I did. It follows Acktreal Domma, an Enxion from a eons old multi-species society working on a search and study vessel whose goal is to classify humans as livestock, pets, or as the listener hopes, a sentient species. However, after the ship is sabotaged by a rouge crew member, everyone is put into danger. I'll try not to spoil it too much but there may or may not be character death. . . There's an insanely huge cast of characters considering it's an ASMR series, I think it ends up being about twelve in total. It has themes of feral instincts, prejudice against carnivore species, addiction, evolution, love, betrayal, and an insane amount of world building that could make Tolkien smile from his grave. Theres a video posted of all fourteen parts (Yes fourteen parts because this woman is dedicateddddd I love her sm) that you can watch on her channel, HOWEVER if you look at the thumbnails for the individual videos, there's art and character designs for about five of the characters. The artist who made all of them is called Kazumi Takashi and has an account on tumblr called Shinurusi, she's SUPER talented. I know the series may seem like an intimidating watch because of how long it is, and I will admit it has a little bit of a slow start, but trust me I wouldn't be glazing it this much if it wasn't peak. The series is absolutely amazing, it's a must watch for anyone with a functioning brain. (If you can't tell, this is my favorite story on this list.)
ALSO!! (Just in case this entices you a little more) ToasterAlien on Tumblr made an amazing piece of fanart for it that I absolutely adore, I think they've most likely abandoned their account by now, but the link to their post is here. https://www.tumblr.com/toasteralien/748104386713157632/oh-wow-this-took-me-absolutely-forever-but-my?source=share
Alone With an Alien by Macadla Reye on YouTube - This is technically a spinoff of Alien Abduction, but don't worry, you don't have to watch Alien Abduction in order to understand this. It follows our human listener and their crew, traveling through space in order to retrieve a lost vessel long abandoned. However, everything goes haywire after they encounter an alien within the supposedly empty halls of the shuttle, everyone but the listener managing to escape. When the listener awakes, they're strapped to a chair being questioned and presumed to be a pirate, informed the alien is an officer of the law. This one is super fun, it's much more lighthearted than Alien Abduction and much shorter too, although it's still very tense at some points. It expands on the world building tremendously and handles the building relationship between the alien and listener super well, it doesn't feel rushed, but it also doesn't feel slow either. ALSO, this one isn't ASMR, it's an audio/visual novel so it gets straight into the plot and is story-driven from there. Kazumi Takashi did all the artwork used in the video, and it's a lot of artwork given there's multiple backgrounds, multiple characters, and oh- did I mention in this one the character's expression and pose changes too? It's genuinely so impressive what they managed to create with this; the video is pretty much a movie at this point I love it sm! Theres about five characters in total, all with different voice actors too! I would recommend watching this one if you're contemplating watching Alien Abduction (Or just don't want to watch a series that long) in order to get a taste for it and see if you like it, and trust me, you WILL like it.
Alien Researcher Encounters a Space Orc by Nightwatch ASMR - This is a two part series, again it’s an ASMR but more story-driven and not the type of thing you would fall asleep to. The plot centers around our viewpoint character as we awaken to the sounds of an alien researcher vigorously taking notes on our biology, only to panic as we soon awaken. Protocol dictators that one of the best strategies to keep Terran’s calm is to… converse? While we share an “enlightening” conversation with our new alien pal Hull-Dean, he starts to learn we might not be as… barbaric as some claim we are. This one has a second part comprised of our viewpoint character being abducted yet again! Only this time by Hull-Deans friend who is instead a researcher of human culture, seeking to interview a Terran for one of his projects. The entire thing is a very enjoyable watch and a recommendation to anyone who enjoys the trope humans are space orcs, this two part series is one of the items on the list that leans into it more than others.
That’s the end of the list!!! I rlly hope you enjoyed and that this helped you— NOW GO WATCH ALONE WITH AN ALIEN! Bye-Bye and have a good day/night!
A lot of finished small fluffy lads, love them, they sniffing warpstone
Remember the elves in Eragon? They could have done anything with magic. But they decided to learn crafts and arts anyway because they enjoyed the process and it gave their lifes purpose.
