I am so freaking glad that the lovely person who's agreed to beta this is a grammar expert

I have the main narrative told in the present tense, although I'm sure a few sentences have slipped into past for ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD REASON.

At the moment I'm writing "past events" in the pluperfect which is a dick of a tense, and slipping in as many simple past verbs as I can in order to stop drowning in "had"s and "was"es. 

Basically, I shouldn't be allowed to write. At least I've stuck to my vow to keep everything from one POV, although that's making telling the actual story very tricky.

Jo, I have a feeling you're going to turn up at my door and punch me on behalf of the English language when you read this.
