Anyway ya boy is finally getting paid to complain about farm owners exploiting their workers. About to be a published author and feel a little deranged about it tbh

Sleeping raspberries
A few days ago my daughter and I were trying to clear away overgrown stuff around the corral area at my father’s house. He used to raise beef cattle, but now nobody’s used the corral in over twenty years and it’s a bit overgrown. We found fence wire wrapped around the raspberry bushes in there, though. Which was a clue that, sometime in the past, my Very ADHD father* planted domestic raspberries there, put some wire around them to protect them from deer, and then walked away and never looked at them again. That spot, really, is too near several large trees for successful fruit bushes, and it’s just - wrong in every way. So, today, we went back with a shovel and some pruners. We trimmed the bushes back to about knee height, then dug them up and moved them to a sunny spot out of the way of other farm activities. Hopefully moving them while they’re dormant will be less stressful for them, and they’ll be happy with their new spot when they wake up. Can you imagine, though? Living and growing in one spot for years, then suddenly waking up a hundred yards and two creekbeds away?

* Please never buy the lie that adhd is a ‘new thing’. It was very much always with us. It simply wasn’t identified correctly until recently. An old, old man who was very inconsistent in school, aced the courses he liked and failed the courses he didn’t, spent half his life outside because he was more comfortable there, had something like seven different ‘careers’, drank constantly, and never sat still EVER . . . had adhd. Yes, even in 1940s and 50s.
