Eat, Pray, Love (For Dudes)
“If you’re going to travel, do it now. Not in two years, but right now.”
This was advice given to me by a friend and it's got me seriously thinking about going off and doing some much-desired traveling.
I've always felt a bit more alive in far-off places (that word "euphoric" comes to mind). But despite all of that, it's only been lately that I’ve seriously considered going off somewhere.
I’m not entirely sure where I’m headed, but I’ve begun to look into my options. Now, those of you who know me may think I’m going into missions or something. Nope.
I feel such stigma around the word phrase “missions work”. I feel like it institutionalizes something that need not be. It’s about relationship, not numbers. You can’t truly love an orphan (or anyone, for that matter) by looking at them through a lens that says their salvation is the end-all. It’s not about one less person going to Hell, it’s about one more person encountering love.
That being said: I’m very interested in working with orphans. I’m also drawn to victims of human trafficking. IMHO, human trafficking is one of this generations greatest injustices. I'd love to extend a hand to help an heal.
On another note, I’m obviously dying to see Europe and thus am also looking into a way for me to A) see it, while B) loving on orphans. So I’m hoping that the greatest need in the Earth, and my greatest passion, meet up somewhere near Italy….
Who knows where this will take me, but I’m excited to see. I feel like this is one of those whims that becomes a reality. It may take awhile, but it’ll come to fruition. Maybe this will become a book, someday? Who knows. I’ve always said I’d like to write an Eat Pray Love for dudes.
