Posted @withregram • @fit4life_fitforliving Thank you Brigitte for sharing this memory! “My first experience with a first responder goes back to my very first memories of my childhood. I was about 3 ½ years old. My mother had just come home from the hospital with my baby sister and she must have had some complications giving birth at the hospital because my dad needed to call the paramedics to come and get her.⠀ ⠀ “I just remember being scared.⠀ ⠀ “Mainly because I was scared that my mom would die and scared that the paramedics would take her and she would never come back home. I was scared enough that when they knocked at our door, I went and hide under my parents bed.⠀ ⠀ “After a while, one of the two paramedics came in the room and sat on the floor and talked to me. I don’t remember what he said but I know that it was soothing and reassuring and even funny.⠀ ⠀ “As an adult today, I am thankful and I truly appreciate that this person took the time to come and talk to me.⠀ ⠀ “The 3 year old under the bed was not part of his job description I’m sure, but he decided to go beyond to make a difference. Being reassured by the paramedic themselves made the biggest difference in my child’s mind. It helped make this experience less dramatic for this little girl.”⠀ ⠀ ~ @salon.love ⠀ __⠀ Thank you Brigitte!⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Brigitte has earned a ballot for September’s First Responders Month Stories contest⠀ .⠀ #contestalert #firstrespondersmonth #fasciastretchtherapy #setitfreewithfst #giftcertificates #ptsd #mentalhealthawareness #heroes #everydayheroes #firstresponders #contest #prizes #stretch #targetthespirit #interpretiveexperience #emotionalhealing #misconceptions #changedlives #donate #fitforlife #fitforliving #unwind #fst @ott_emergency_responses @ottfire_incendiesottawa @ottawa_rural_firefighters @ottawapolice https://www.instagram.com/p/CFRmWhqhj-W/?igshid=1iv0jpr858kpf
