now i'm not quite sure what the preface to being able to claim FASD as a diagnostic label is, nor do i know if it can even be diagnosed in my case, but holy crap tumblr be normal about people with FASD
like in my case i was exposed to teratogens and was later diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. we're not sure if there's a direct link and it was literally never got brought up again by my doctors but every time i say this i feel like there's gonna be a tumblr hitman laughing at me for saying "oh i was exposed to substances as a fetus" or another tumblr hitman blaming my parents or thinking FASD is always indicative of abuse or maltreatment
like we can somehow accept that autism is a spectrum or whatever yet whenever someone says FASD they think of that image of a child with no philtrum or say "ermmm actually it's FAS" or make some stupid joke about FASD or intellectual disability like screw off man
god forbid i even mention something like being tested for fragile x because tumblr thinks genetic conditions = intellectual disability and intellectual disability = "stupid"
