Quick Note: Assassins Creed Odyssey Feels Like The Anti Red Dead Redemption 2
I’ve barely begun to scratch the surface of AC:O, having played for roughly six hours I can tell the main plot of the game hasn’t even really kicked off yet. But it only takes a few minutes to realize that this game is going to be very different to the last big game I played....yet somehow very similar.
Most what I want to say here is just the speed of things, if RDR2 kicked off with a mosey AC Odyssey gets out of the gate at a breakneck sprint. Everything about this game is fast, you move fast, looting is instant and when you whistle for your horse Phobos will show up he’s there behind you before you even finish the animation. Now, granted, the incredibly fine details of RDR2 is why that game felt as slow as it did, and AC Odyssey lacks many of those. What we get instead of the damn near real life simulation of Red Dead is a game unconcerned with anything other than rewarding the player, but talking about that is for another time. I know this post is unfocused, but what I wanted to get something out of my head about why going from RDR2 to AC Odyssey is such a shock, look for more detailed thoughts about the game from me in the near future as I get a little further in.
