the whole idea of “femme invisibility” is fucked imho because most femme lesbians don’t actually look like straight women.

like, if you search femme lesbian look at the women shown- this is not a straight look! the women shown who aren’t sex workers are clearly presenting in a way different from straight women.

like are there femmes who look like straight women? of course, not all gay people flag based on appearance. but stuff like piercings? tattoos? vibrant hair colors? messy long hair? alt fashion? all SUPER common with femmes

like yeah, it can suck that straight people assume you’re just an alt straight girl. but yknow what?? that’s safer than what butches deal with and usually other wlw and gbp men sense I’m gay!

anyway tl;dr femmes don’t look straight n we as femme lesbians should talk more about how we choose to flag and how we break gender norms rather than whining about how the str8s don’t notice that we aren’t one or how other lgbt people sometimes mistakenly assume we’re straight for their own safety!
