eyes cast to the picture he holds. a mother and a child in her arms. himself. the woman radiates as she looks at the child; his mother. and yet, he never knew her, or knew that smile. sometimes it bothers him, to know she looked at him like that and yet, landon spend most of his life in foster homes where all he received was verbal and psychical pain. he shows the picture to his companion, hope is before him, bringing some sense of comfort as she always does. If anything, at the moment, she is as close as to a home as he has. “this is all i have of her. at least i can say i know what she looks like.” and he shrugs, hands tambourine on his legs, blue gaze looking away at his shoes. “can’t say the same for my father.” and then he looks at her own pictures. he knows most of them are gone, but there is love there. a man with the same eyes as hope looking back at him; a woman who looks like hope smiling, and those he assumes are her aunts and uncles. a family. “for the record, i peaked at the books at the school about your family ”and he makes a short pause, courage in his gaze as green finds blue. “they took care of you and raised you. neither of them are as bad as the books make them to be if they made you as you are.” perfect. he wants to add, but he doesn’t want to sound cheesy or ruin the mood.
