(499) Well, that was certainly a fun few hours to spend. For the price, I'd definitely say its worth it, issues and all. It has a clicker sandbox vibe which is nice but I'd like something to actually do beyond whats here. Again though, perfect for its price and I love the art style.

Wanted to talk about Fate Tectonics! It would be great for god and deitykin! It's a puzzle game where you play as a god and create the land. You can play as different deities with different abilities. It's actually really interesting and unique as far as puzzle games go (this coming from someone who doesn't normally like puzzle games, but this one is so cool!)

An Angry 15 Year Old Trying To Get A Copy Of Phoenix Wright And Other Things That Have Nothing To Do With PAX

PAX Prime this year was a great time. The Attract Mode prints at the Fangamer art show were a hit (before anyone asks: expect them to appear in the Attract Mode Shop in short order) and I had more Japanese hot dogs during the Toy Temp party, in one single night, than I’ve ever had any entire Penny Arcade weekend prior (BTW/FYI: Fate Tectonics comes out later this week, on the 9th to be exact).

PAX Prime was also overwhelming, and during the past week since the show’s been over, I’ve been playing catch up (alongside Metal Gear Solid V). All the off the beaten path news and nonsense that’s of interest to those who aren’t into headlines, and which becomes even more difficult to grab a hold of during/after something major like a PAX or E3.

Like the above, which comes from Da Laser Reactive. Some of you may be aware of my interest in the Pioneer LaserActive. For starters, be sure to hit up the channel for old LaserDiscs featurettes on Virtua Fighter and Ridge Racer if you’re into that kind of stuff. Though the feature attraction is the video above, which sheds light on the Video High Density (VHD) format, which I had no idea existed.

As you see, it’s kinda like a LaserDisc, except it comes in a large housing, so the user never actually handles (or even gets to see) the disc itself. I’m not still not sure on whether the actual discs are even LaserDisc-like, since the machine reads info using a “stylus”, which sounds like a record needle. It’s super weird. And super awesome! I love archaic technology, especially when it’s big and awkward.

Oh, and here’s two other things of note: check out this thread on Select Button that seeks to list every instance in which a video game has taken inspiration from the films Alien and Aliens (it’s an old thread, but was recently updated, shortly before PAX).

And finally, you know those guys I sometimes mention, the ones with whom I get drunk with and play import games (which is how I found out about the wonders that is Suzuki Bakuhatsu)? Well for whatever reason, in an email thread to organize the next get together, one of the guys shared the following expert from his Xanga that was originally written at the age of 15 concerning bad customer service at Best Buy:

One last thing, then i promise I’m done. I wasn’t planning on going out tonight, so I was gonna go to Best Buy with my dad and finally get a new game for my DS which I got last Channukah, but haven’t gotten a single new game since. So anyways, I call them seeing if they have Phoenix Write: Ace Attorney (dun hate, you know that game looks hella tight), and the first time I call, there’s this horrible feedback coming from their side and the conversation goes as such: “Best Buy Games, CDs devision.” “Hi, I was wondering if you had a game in stock?” “Which game?” “Phoenix Write: Ace Attorney” “Okay, I’ll go check.” ::horrible feedback for about a minute and a half until the guy comes back, and hangs up without a word said:: so then I call back and get a new guy: “Best Buy games devision” “Hi, I was wondering if you had a game in stock?” “::incomprehensible murmur::” “Ummm, excuse me? Can you please repeat what you just said?” ::guy hangs up phone:: Seriously, what the fuck, I wasn’t being hostile or rude at all s’all bullshit. But if that’s how they wanna roll, then they should be prefectly fine without my fucking money.
