I love that the MediEvil: Fate's Arrow comic just casually drops the bombshell that there's an "evil" (maybe?) version of Sir Daniel Fortesque living in modern day, cursed to walk the Earth for centuries and unable to rest in peace because he had his body and his honor stolen from him by a time traveling version of himself that kidnapped him and used a body swap potion on him, forcing him to turn into his own decayed corpse because said time-traveling self took one look at him and went "this man sucks too much to even die properly". One quick, maybe not-well-thought-out decision on Dan's part when he could've just let the events play out normally essentially doomed this man - himself - into an immortal life of funny skeletondom.
He went through none of the character development of MediEvil 1 and 2 because he wasn't in those. He had to use someone else's research to figure out what "he" did. He knows how to assume a very convincing human disguise by now and is using an electronic device to talk. He uses his human disguise to talk about how he got his shit rocked by a time paradox. He has lived for over 700 years.
The Sir Daniel Fortesque of the games is now trapped in an endless time loop of dying, using a time machine, falling off said time machine, and dying forevermore in a curse of his own making (a fate he could've avoided if he just didn't mess with the events of his own past but hey, That's Our Dan™) while a Sir Daniel Fortesque we've never spent any time with is the one that's running around. In the event that pigs fly, Hell freezes over, and Sony decides to make MediEvil 3 off of this foundation, THIS is probably the Dan we'd control?
Unless they decide to retell this comic again as a video game, in which case we just run into the same cliffhanger twice.
He also has The Eye of Amon Ra. We don't know what The Eye of Amon Ra does.
No, seriously. What is this guy's deal.
