What if we touched racquets at the net 🥹
tf was going on with these two in 2022 because umag and wimbledon were LOADED with the kind of yaoi we would die for today. 'ice bath conversations' what even
Fated Rivals Nichelink: an All-Ages nichelink where two (or more) people consider themself "rivals" in the way anime characters have rivals.
this may include, but is not limited to:
one or both of the people in the relationship being kin/introject/alterhuman/etc of a character from an anime or manga, dissoanime, animecoric, etc
non-rose/tertiary attraction like loser, aggroamoric, sultri, turbulent, etc
a deep, lasting rivalry that motivates the people in the relationship to constantly get stronger, whatever that means to them
constant competition, wanting to fight
feeling like meeting each other (and becoming rivals) was fate, or not
nichelink coining
flag inspiration rambling:
the colors are inspired by two pairs that i feel are the most important of the "fated rivals" trope: joe yabuki+toru rikiishi from ashita no joe and vegeta+son goku from dragon ball z.
light blue is for Toru Rikiishi, and anime and manga
dark blue is for Joe Yabuki and passion
red is for antagonist tropes, since many examples of anime rivals have one character being an antagonist
orange is for Son Goku and shounen anime
fun fact: joe and rikiishi's rivalry is the ORIGIN of this trope. ☝🤓despite its influence on japanese culture and anime as a whole, ashita no joe has never had an official english dub, and only received an official english manga translation in 2024, 50 years after it was published. please go read/watch it. it's very good! tumblr will spoil you for the plot points, though, so be careful.
Zoisite: *walks into the room menacingly striking a pointing stick against a book*
Zoisite: *nearly waxes lyrical infodumping about the Legendary Silver Crystal*
Zoisite: *also pretty much moves around the room by dancing to get there*
Ami: “So are you even a real teacher?”
Zoisite: “No, I was hired from the drama department because they couldn’t find a sub.”
Ami: “...Crystal Seminar doesn’t have a drama department.”
Zoisite: “Wait, what?”
Ami: “What?”
I am pleased to announce that Zoisite’s sass levels are also up from the previous staging.
It was FATE meeting you, facing you, losing to you and winning you.
I hope they just put that in the anime. Also... Nekoma match soon and I don't think I'm ready_cognizant anon
but when r u ever ready???
Nekoma and Karasuno's relationship is absolute goals.
