as promised, more thoughts on fatemoons yongjia. since this is a new company (though its parent company, angell-studio, has been around a while) and I think I’m one of their first buyers (mine was their first paypal invoice), I figured it’d be nice to do an actual review. so:

- he is liddol. I suspect he’d fit into minifee clothes, as everything I have for 1/4 dwarfs him. he’s around the same height as Crow (Angel Region Ren), and Finn (on a Dream Valley body) literally towers head and shoulders above him. you can see in the photos above that he’s swimming in those pants, and they’re on the smaller end. while this doesn’t bother me much, it might be an issue in finding him clothes if you don’t make your own. unless he really does fit into minifee, in which case there’s plenty. I’ll figure that out later.

- love the translucent resin, it’s got a pinky undertone and it looks really nice in natural light. obviously I have yet to see how it yellows. has a nice texture. I believe it was called “milk”.

- he poses great! he’s got those little rubber bumps inside his hips and shoulders that I’m seeing more often these days, and those help, but his jointing is just well made. he holds positions well and his arms/legs are decently flexible. not much movement in the neck and torso, though. thigh joints are easy to engage. he’s a steady stander/sitter.

- if you missed it in my box opening post, he got here in five weeks from my order date. so at least right now, the company is fast.

- the faceup is gorgeous, and looks just like the photos, though this particular one is limited to three (two now, I guess?). I can’t speak to the “default” faceup, but I would wager it’s quality as well.

- very nice sculpting. I’m super picky about hands, but his pass the test, and he’s got a detail I really like to see: that vertebral bump between the shoulder blades. not sure why I like it so much, but there it is. he doesn’t have nipples, if that’s something you care about.

- head’s kind of a weird shape, so he might be a little hard to find wigs for. I plan on just making one, but I know most people don’t do that. his ears are low enough that they shouldn’t get into the way of wigs. his eye sockets are very standard 14mm.

- are there any downsides? honestly, not many! his size means he might not fit into groups of other 1/4 dolls, and he’ll possibly be hard to find clothes/wigs/shoes for. his faceup seems a little fragile but I could just be paranoid about it. overall I’m really, really pleased with him, and if they release any more sculpts I like enough, I wouldn’t hesitate to order from this company again. their customer service was wonderful and polite. fatemoons and yongjia definitely get the seal of approval from me.
