I'm not sure if this is fatnoirism but I know a lot of fat Black people are seen as "funny"/unserious, like they're an acceptable target to make fun of. The internet loves memes of fat Black people! But then if fatphobia and antiblackness get brought up, it's somehow "less important".

this is fatnoirism.

fat black people are often the butt of jokes and used for entertainment, whether it's because of their blackness by nonblack audiences, fatness for black audiences, or a mixture of both.

look at media like Norbit or The Nutty Professor (both, coincidentally, having Eddie Murphy as the fat characters) fatness is seen as a joke or some sort of freak show wonder. but when it's called out, it's "not that deep" and we need to "take a joke".

I hope this does not come across as mean but hypothetically wouldn't it just be better for fat people to lose weight instead of telling society to normalize it? Of course everyone deserves respect including overweight people, they're no better or worse than anyone. But, wouldn't it be healthier to just lose weight? Instead of normalizing obesity, we could be more healthy and live longer.

And I know everyone's different, maybe a medical condition, or medications, or environment, but a lot of overweight people could just lose weight. So yeah I was wondering . much love!!
