i see a lot of transfem hcs for hong lu and its like. of course i love transfem headcanons. theyre great. but it is rooted in a place of sinophobia. asian men, eastern asian specifically, are often feminized and fetishized without their consent and its pretty obvious when people purposefully try to feminize hong lu and his family that theyre doing it solely because theyre chinese and look kinda femme. this is not to say you cnat have a tfem hong lu. you call him malewife. you feminize him and make him weak, only capable of sitting and looking pretty and being a device for everything else.
on the topic of hong lu, i have another thing. the recent hate for callusto, with the new ids, but glazing faubina. lets take a moment to examine why we dont want the east asian man who does actually fit the character as an id and why we do want the white lady who doesnt really have much in common with albina. why you glaze over characters like outis and queequeg in favor of ishmael and donqui. you avoid yi sang and heathcliff like the plague but uplift meursault and sinclair. why are you so afraid of people of color?
