a lot of ppl are going like “WOW you guys are so heartless for not feeling bad for that guy who died trying to contact the sentinelese :/” likeeeee

1) it’s illegal to try to contact them like u can’t even get within 3 miles of the island, this is enforced by the indian navy & the locals wouldn’t even take him, he had to bribe one fisherman AND not only that but had to use a dinghy to get the rest of the way. like this is LITERALLY not allowed

2) he coulda killed off the entire population by exposing them to diseases none of them have immunity to like the entire population of that group of islands was almost wiped out by diseases so the sentinelese rejecting contact is completely understandable. in fact he’s STILL endangering them bc his body is still there and no one can collect it!

3) this guy goes w a bible tryna convert these people to christianity and live out some colonizer’s dream like Why am i supposed 2 feel sorry for him

overall like im mostly upset that he could kill the rest of the ppl still there =/
