& our muses are destined to meet in a coffee shop ;

coғғee has never been something that alexandre has ever enjoyed, but he recognizes the necessity of the beverage. especially when he happens to be of a profession that requires him to pull all nighters on a weekly basis. it’s like something he hates but relies on. it is something he hates but relies on. but anyway, enough musing over the possible philosophical aspects of disliking coffee. might as well actually open the door to the coffee store.

as he pulls back the door handle, he braces himself for that overwhelmingly nauseating smell of coffee — oh god okay, no, why did he think that going to a coffee shop of all places would be a good idea? there’s a lot of reasons for why it’d be a bad idea.

a) coffee. b) coffee related things. c) people who like coffee. d) people.

too bad he can’t just stand there because there are other people trying to get inside the shop, and so he’ll have to walk inside and sit down. because it’d be incredibly rude to just turn around and walk out. also, from past experiences, doing that will also attract a bit too much of attention. 

so, he pulls the door completely open, turning off to the side to hold it for a few people passing in and out, and then he enters the quaint place himself. it reeks of coffee, well probably not but coffee is a gross smell to him, so it’s not too difficult for him to pick up. his face contorts into an expression of disgust, though it is quick to leave his features. expressions such as the one he had made were considered rude, like many things, and he tries his best to avoid seeming rude.

he passes off the shifting in and out of that expression as a sort of ‘face stretch’ { alexandre, what kind of excuse is that? no one even knows what a face stretch is } — a part of a process where he turns to examine the current shop he’s in.

oh!

      good thing the line is short.

and so he continues down into the little coffee shop, mindful of the chairs that were occupied and could possibly suddenly move. he mumbles ‘sorry’s and ‘excuse me’s even when they aren’t needed, and he is half-shuffling by the time he’s nearing the counter. but he’s always half shuffling, so he’s now half way between shuffling and half-shuffling, and honestly, he looks a bit ridiculous. he’ll look a lot more than a bit ridiculous in a few moments.

bam.

{ god damn it alexandre. you really need to watch where you’re going. }

and so a yelp, and then a string of rapid apologies leaves the mouth of the coffee ‘hater’, and he’s wincing internally at his absolute failure.

"oh my gosh, i am so very sorry; i didn’t get too much on you, hopefully? should i get some paper, sorry; do you want me to purchase another of those for you, i am so sorry, once again, oh gosh. this is all my fault, i really should’ve watched where i was going — —” 

      shut up, just shut up right now and go get the towels, alexandre, you are only making matters worse.

"— — um — — sorry."

he offers a weak smile to the unfortunate stranger as chemical stained hands press together nervously. his fingers latch onto one another, and he fiddles.

"right, um, i’ll go— get some paper towels, or something; gosh, I am so, so sorry."

and there he goes again, apologizing.

                    Not every day a human he stumbles upon catches his eye, but something about this one strikes interest inside him. He doesn't know why, he doesn't dwell on why. It just so happens to be, and O'Malley will accept that. He's also in a bit of a tiny predicament, if you could even call it that.

                    "Hey," there was no need to live under the false pretense he was a normal cat. You could say the way this man reacted could also ascertain his fate--he'd seen that face in the newspapers.

                    Limping forward, he held out a paw. Dug into the pad of one was a rather large splinter. It looked painful, and it felt painful. "Could you get this out for me?" He'd tried to dig it out with his teeth, but to no avail. His efforts were fruitless.
