Portrait of Madame Matisse or ‘The Green Stripe’ (1905) is one of Henri Matisse’s most famous portraits. Though there is not an over abundance of chartreuse in this painting, the focal point (the green stripe) is very striking. The chartreuse cuts a line through the center of Madame Matisse’s face, drawing the viewer’s eye.
