“Who are you? “What are you doing here?"

The words were sharp -- sharper than the scimitar she was wielding, sharper than Rajah's teeth against the stranger's neck. He growled, telling Jasmine he was more than ready to rip into the stranger's jugular. Jasmine shook her head, just slightly, and Rajah relaxed half a fraction. The princess strengthened her grip on the sword, pointing the curved edge to the stranger. No one was allowed in her room. Ever. This was the one place she could escape to without the worry of suitors or Fathers or disgusting wizard men. This was her sanctuary -- Allah help the man who dared disturb it.

Allah help the man who dared do it while holding a bag full of her mother's jewelry. Jasmine took a step forward, deep brown eyes narrowing, fury sharpening her stance. Incompetent guards. There were supposed to be ten of them stationed at the treasury at all times; it was there that they kept all the jewelry that had belonged to her mother, along with a few gold coins and bars. The guards' incompetence was infuriating, and cursed she'd be if she didn't make sure Father fired them. Later she would feel bad for the thought, and assure them jobs elsewhere in the Palace, but at the moment all she felt was anger -- at them, at this man who had the audacity to try and steal them, and then come into her bedchambers!

“You'd do best to explain yourself quickly --"

Now the words were hot, burning, scalding -- the anger that dripped from them a visible red monster in the air. She watched as Rajah adjusted his weight, bearing most of his four-hundred pounds on the thief's shoulder, and as he growled.

“ -- because Rajah's hungry."
