Simon Says: PAX was pretty great.
So last weekend I went to PAX for the first time. PAX is basically a video game convention, but also an amazing get together for making new friends and connections.
On Friday, I was just roaming the expo with a couple of friends, checking out new games for us to try, buying some merchandise, talking with different game developers, and walking next to people who have now idea what hygiene is. Then we went to the company whom I’ve been waiting for since I got to Boston, Riot Games.
I remember a couple months ago that Riot Games decided not to attend PAX East, it was kind of a bummer. I think it was a couple weeks ago that they changed their minds and said “Yeah sure why not.” They hosted an event called “The Riftwalk” which highlighted the League of Legends Community, and what they have created. I thought it was an amazing idea for Riot to showcase what the community has done for the game, and how much they appreciate the hard work and effort everyone puts into the community. Sure many people can agree that the players can be toxic and just borderline psychotic, take Tyler1 for an example. But if we just ignore that, I think the league community is one of the best, and I am glad to be apart of it.
My friend introduced me to a Riot employee Matt Dunn (FauxSchizzle) who worked on the lore for Ekko, Kindred, and League of Legends most recent champion Aurelion Sol. My friend told me that he also graduated with an MFA for screenwriting. He had such a great vibe and personality that I had to talk with him more than just a short exchange. I came back an interviewed him for about 15 minutes, and everything he said was something I needed to hear as a writer. He was such a genuine person and I know that everything he said was really honest and sincere. On the bus ride home, I thought about everything he said and listened to the interview a couple of times, it was a 4 hour bus ride.
Matt said “Keep writing, and don’t stop.”
I am going to try and push myself everyday and write about anything I can think of. Matt Dunn can get to work for Riot Games, so why can’t I? If I work hard enough and show how passionate I am through story telling, then I can achieve the same greatness he has succeeded. Thanks Matt for taking the time to speak to me as, writer to writer. Hope to see you again very soon, and maybe even work with you at Riot Games.
Once you learn to accept mortality, you can truly live. Lamb loves those people the most.

Chromatic Eagle: How does one even run from Wolf then, or tries to at least?
FauxSchizzle: I think the key here is the word "run". It's not always physically fleeing, but a denial of the inevitable; a fear of whatever comes next. In some cases this is physically running (from a battlefield) in others, it's living with a choice one has made and slowly passing away.
Kindred don't choose who to take. They are the moment of death. If you see them, it's your time. Some people narrowly escape death, but watch it claim others -- people who survive tragedy -- and in that case it's an awakening one's own mortality.
