☕️ kilts (this also doubles as the question of what shirt, shoes, etc. does one wear with kilts?)
(is this just your way of asking what you’re supposed to bring for the ceilidh? 😏)
I’m obviously a huge kilt fan, kilts are the only dress/skirt things I wear comfortably and regularly. I love that they come in clan patterns, I love the accessory game, I love how comfortable they are, they really can’t be faulted.
Generally speaking men wear:
A ghillie shirt (a shirt with tassels at the front)
A leather belt (with a large buckle that you purchase seperately)
A sporran (a kind of bag you wear in front of your crotch, that you keep your hip flask in).
Kilt hose (just long socks with a kind of knitted pattern on them usually
Flashes (strips of coloured material that you tuck into the folded-over part of the socks
Ghillie brogues (special shoes)
A kilt jacket and/or waistcoat, for more formal events (like weddings etc) - sometimes on formal occassions the ghillie shirt gets switched for a normal shirt so it can be worn with a tie etc.
Women can also wear kilts, which can be knee length (like mens) or short (a billie kilt) or long (down to the ankles). I (as you know 😉) tend to wear knee length ones, and I usually prefer to keep it casual with a leather jacket and a pair of boots, rather than brogues and a kilt jacket, cause it looks punk rock af.
