My Favourite Shot From Each Episode of Word of Honor: Ep 1 - 8

Episode One

Okay, I have two here. But these are such good shots that emphasize the characters at the start of the story!

Zhou Zishu is a lone warrior, setting off on a setting with dark lighting. The hood, unlike the fan, doesn't symbolise secrecy, but perhaps shame, which is the main motivation of Zhou Zishu's character at the beginning.

And this has ALWAYS been my favourite shot of Wen Kexing, and it's one of the first we see (where his face is fully visible). He has a cheeky, mischievous smile, half-hidden by a fan, a symbol of secrecy or wearing a mask.

Perfect character introduction in two simple shots!

Episode Two

Yes *eye roll* another Wen Kexing with fan shot. But I remember (as I didn't actually realise it was WKX is red in the Ghost Valley scene in ep 1 for quite some time) that this was the first time a shiver was sent up my spine and I realised that there was more to this guy than meets the eye.

Episode Three

Yeah... isn't it everyone's?

Episode Four

I probably should have made this a gif... But I thought the close shot of the fire dancing during the flute scene was such a nice detail and added to the eeriness of the scene.

Episode Five

As my mum says, sometimes less is more. The limited colours in this shot allows our eyes to focus on what the director wants us the focus on. The lighting behind the figure is eery, and perfectly brings forward the 'ghost' theme of this particular narrative that this scene follows.

Episode Six

EThis fight is very similar to their fight in episode two. In those two scenes, WKX and ZZS are less actually fighting and more showing off their skills. In such, it turns out more like a dance, which leads to beautiful shots like this one.

Episode Seven

Again... amazing acting by Gong Jun. The swift transition from where he was fun and childish around the market with ZZS to becoming the stern and terrifying Chief of the Ghost Valley is mesmerizing to watch. The placement of the camera is also in a position which reminds me of surveillance and hidden cameras, alluding to the secrecy and villainy occuring behind the scenes.

Episode Eight

The ten-year-old me who wanted to be an architect was briefly resurrected by this shot.
