HE FEELS FAMILIAR. cold air by the back of her neck makes her wrap her arms around her, embracing herself in a protective manner as big doe green gaze looks back at the man with curiosity. she can’t shrug off the sensation that she knows him, and somehow, that bothered as just as much as she felt familiar with him. “I’m---sorry, can I help you?” she asks after a moment, gaze breaking from him and seeing there was no one around the streets, and now she becomes awfully aware he was A STRANGER IN THE DARK.  “you look; lost.”

39. Countdown to Soulmate AU

Sam pointedly doesn’t stare at the little clock on his wrist. Today is the day that the lawyer is supposed to run into his Soulmate, and though he should care, he really doesn’t. Jess left him the night before, a firm believer that you belong with your Soulmate. But Sam doesn’t see how anyone could be better for him than Jess.

5 seconds

He’s walking down a mostly-deserted street, heading home for the day. He’s gazing around nervously, as if he can tell how close the countdown is, but still refuses to look at his covered wrist.

4 seconds

He can’t avoid it, though. He knows that when he meets them, he won’t be able to stay away from his Soulmate.

3 seconds

He’s nearing a corner, and his heart thumps loudly. Some part of him just knows that that is where they’ll find each other - right when he turns it.

2 seconds

He could just run. Avoid it completely. But his feet keep moving forward, without his permission. He’s almost there.

1 second

He wants to close his eyes, and just ignore his fate, but he’s turning the corner. Past the point of no return. He almost immediately runs into someone.

Dean’s eyes flick to the Archangel in confusion, and Sam can’t help but feel a little smug. They were hunting a Greek god, apparently, and Dean had been berating him about how his Archangel had been ignoring his prayers.

Now, he’d shown up to help them, and Sam immediately feels ten times safer. The god - Ares - seemed amused by the action. “ The Devil himself, huh? I’m not scared of you. I’m the God of War, and you? You couldn’t even go through with the Apocalypse. You’re weak. ”
