Day 2 of #marchmeetthemaker! #Favouritetomake: almost everything I create is covered with #flora or #fauna (I do enjoy #drawing people and everyday objects, but I always come back to #nature forms). The drawing part is really #focussed for me, and the (digital) #coloring is more #relaxing. And the most fun is to create a #pattern, which I almost always do in #Photoshop. It's like creating your own #puzzle, and making all of the pieces fit and flow into a nice #rhythm. Love it 🌷♥

Time for some #marchmeetthemaker day 1 #favouritetomake but I'm way behind 🙈 I'm Laurie, I'm an Irish 26-year-old DIY gal/painter/tryer/upcycler/writer 😊 I have a lot of favourites! Its hard to pick just one, though my favourite pursuit at the moment is the entomology frames 😍 I have always had a connection to butterflies, my whole life I've just been drawn to them? End of 2018 I decided to finally try my hand at framing some ethically sourced specimens for myself, and I fell even more in love with them and this process of reanimating something that has died, bringing it back to life in a weird way. From the butterflies I moved on to framing beetles, which before practicing entomology, I had no idea how stunning an insect they are 😍 it has opened me up to new creations in such an educational and beautiful way, with great respect for the fact that you are taking something that is no longer living and magically creating something that lets the specimen live on in a new way. Ethically sourcing specimens is something very important to me, I was nervous to join the community and meet rage or mean comments from those that think taxidermy is wrong, but instead I've found this artform that is so intricate and detailed that I am so interested in. Today starts the fabulous @Joannahawker's #MarchMeetTheMaker! I usually participate in this challenge, because it gives me awesome things to talk about! And it is a wonderful community. This is a hard one for me to answer in a simple way. I am by no means a purist. I like to make all kinds of things that fall in the realm of fine art. And I just go with the flow when it comes to what I do. Right now, I mostly enjoy making watercolor paintings with adornment. I enjoy making my own materials, though. So it's all mixed media. I guess that's what I would say about it? I used to be a printmaker, and I am getting back into that.
