I brought you something. It's stupid, but it made me think of you. / polaris & selene
camp is quiet, settled just on the outskirts of the druid grove. they've welcomed wyll in with open arms, and polaris worries his lip about this so-called infernal devil wyll quests after. his blade set aside after a sweeping polish, hands flapping up to dark curls where the crown rests carefully upon brow. he hadn't even realized he left with it still on, and something heavy sets in his gut about it. father will be mad, certainly —
polaris flinches at the voice, still unused to hearing the lack of emotion — the cadence is off, it lacks warmth he is use to accompanying the tone — that comes from a voice so familiar. it is another thing that chews his lower lip, worrying it to the point of iron in his mouth. hells, there is so much going on, but he can't handle this, then he certainly cannot handle taking his — their — father's place, right?
"what is it?" he asks, wiping his mouth on his sleeve. the red blooms on the yellow-white of his night shirt, all frills and puffed sleeves that has made astarion extra comfy in a way polaris is unuse too. ( he knows of the art of seduction, certainly, but to be the target of such is much different than books snuck under covers. )
the thing offered to him catches the firelight, glinting gold on a chain. polaris squints at the charm, tiny and nondescript sword. he has to worry about where such a thing came from. ( he dreads to ask, hopes it comes from a stolen pocket a tiefling kid sold to her rather than a corpse. )
"it's not stupid." he murmurs, carefully extending a hand out for it. "thank you?" he ventures cautiously, feeling off-footed by the interaction. he looks up at her, eyes bright golden as he studies her intently.
