During Passover of 1943, Jewish partisan Faye Schulman observed the holiday by eating only potatoes. This was a risky act, as she had to constantly hide her Jewish identity from the others in the group. If they suspected she was trying to keep kosher, the antisemitic members of the group may have killed her or thrown out of the Molotova Brigade.
