He can stand! ... Sorta. I'm just gonna call him Mr. Noodle Legs for now. His posture also turned out pretty crazy. I kinda like that no two faylotls are similar though.

Every doll I make gives me insight on how I can do the next one better. I had this same issue with the legs on the last faylotl, but I think I know what to do to fix that in the future. Either way, he's coming along well. Just a few more steps before he's finished.

AAAAAAAAAAA

My flox is here! And she took no time at all to start exploring. She found my super messy art desk and caught a certain salamander’s attention. I think she’s gonna be jealous at how well Noll can climb things. He was pretty excited to get a new friend, but now he might be starting to realize how much of a handful she is...

I think her name is Flamenco. She can be Flam or Flammy for short! (Oh god I have a creature named Fluter and now one named Flam. Damn you Lloyd Alexander!)

On the headworld side of things: Looks like Noll’s ancient lake has a new resident. And her tree is right next door to his! Noll has seen a lot of change in his life but this one was unexpected. She calls herself Flamenco and she’s always sneaking around looking for little treasures. She even managed to snatch one of Noll’s berries while he wasn’t looking. 

In my mind Noll is kind of like a cranky old guy you have to get to know before he starts being fun. So a rambunctious sprite like Flam is bound to cause a few headaches, but a few laughs too.

Faylotl #1 - Caiman

This is a Faylotl - a water sprite that lives along the shorelines of any pond, lake, river, tidepool, or any other body of water where life can thrive. They use their long legs to climb up trees and view their homes from above. They’re usually quite shy, but if you’re kind to their home, you just might catch the shimmer of their sparkling eyes amongst the leaves.

It’s finally done! My first ever needle felted poseable doll. He took so dang long to finish but wow does it feel good to complete something.

I consider him a prototype for future dolls that I plan to sell. His head piece will no longer be used and I’ve made a new (better) one. I’ve got better wire too so future dolls will be way better at posing than this one. And, of course, now I’ve got some experience under my belt. I’ve got two sketches for new dolls ready to go and I’m really excited to start a new project. I may post more pictures of him later to get a better look at his details.

Feets and toes! Definitely one of the more monotonous parts to work on, but at least I get consistent results this way. Faylotls have some weird feets and I'm okay with this.

While house sitting at my parents, I've been slowly working on building up and smoothing out the core for my next faylotl. He's very nearly there and ready for the next step, but sadly he'll have to be shelved for a week as I go on vacation. Once I get back it'll be right back to work for you, little buddy! Oh and ignore the hostage bag over his head. I use that to protect the resin head from hitting the hard table. I'm sure it's comfy.

Ah yes, the skinny-turd-body-with-fat-squishy-tail phase. Well he should grow out of that soon.

Faylotl #2 is underway! The camera didn't pick it up very well but those dark blues are actually more indigo/purpley. Very beautiful roving.
