she doesn’t usually go to starbucks –– there isn’t one on her way, and this one definitely isn’t –– but she remembers it’s the one where amelia works and, while she doesn’t know her schedule, she hopes for the best. it’d probably be better for her to leave everything alone –– she doesn’t know her, after all, but there had been something in the way amelia had looked at josephine that had made her doubt that for a moment. like maybe they’d met once, or that amelia knew her, or of her, and maybe it’s a little bit of that old paranoia rising up, but she wonders. she can’t help it.
this time, she gets lucky –– sees her behind the counter, at the register, and she doesn’t even know what she’s going to say. she doesn’t have anything planned.
“oh, hi,” a smile, easy. “amelia, right?”
