Bongo Comics Free-For-All - FCBD13

Everyone knows The Simpsons, right? If you don’t where have you been for the last 24 years?! Bongo Comics is the brain child of Matt Groening, and if you we’re a kid in the 90’s, like me, you probably had many issues of these shorts lying around your house.

Containing 5 different shorts, ranging from Itchy and Scratchy to a smelly Homer Simpson, it was a total blast from the past, and a welcomed one too. With my personal favorite being Itchy blowing Scratchy’s head off with ‘Faux’ Botox, it’s short, charming and a little bit gruesome when needed.

This Free-For-All is great for all the family and will be sure to put a smile on your face, whether your 8 or 80.

Free Comic Book Day! :D

I recently moved away, but I returned to NYC for the day to celebrate Free Comic Book Day at my favorite comic book store, Midtown Comics, and also to attend Bronx Heroes Comic Convention. It was so good to be home! <3

First stop was Midtown, not only did I get some great free comics, I inspired a friend of mine to pick up all 3 issues of Fearless Defenders! I also bought a few extra copies to share & get more people hooked on one of my favorite titles <3

Then I headed over to Bronx Heroes Con at the Kingsbridge Library Center (http://www.bxhcc.com/). The Women in Comics panel was excellent. So many creative women that I admire shared their knowledge & experiences in the industry with us. I was so excited to meet one of my favorite artists, Alitha Martinez! You've seen her art on the pages of Iron Man, X-men, Black Panther, Batgirl & many more titles. She is so nice & shares my love of Chick-Fil-A! I totally geeked out at her table XD

The most fun part of my day was modelling for a children's art class in costume. The kids loved Misty Knight's arm & Wonder Woman's armor. Their art was really good! Way better than mine, at their age or now even. One of the art students was kind enough to let me share her sketches of me, and they are absolutely amazing! Thank you so much, Kate! Bishop Sketch from FCBD.

I had a great time hanging out all day at Legend Comics and Coffee with the Legend Crew, fellow artist Tim Meyer and all of the great customers. I was busy handing out mini-prints and doing some sketches while the place was packed from 9am to 1pm, but I felt like only a couple hours had actually gone by.

It calmed down a bit after that, and I stayed for the prize drawings for the Make-a-Wish Nebraska fundraiser. There were some funny moments when a customer who would never get a tattoo won a $200 gift certificate to a tattoo parlor, and some grown men won gift certificates to a place that does custom Disney Princess outfits. A long time customer of Legend won the copy of Amazing Spider-Man #1.
