☺ What tends to bring out your muse the most? What inspires you?

also @proditora and @stellaexlacrima ‘cause you guys sent the same emoticon! ty!
before the awakening by greg rucka is one that really makes the muse come alive because it details so much of poe’s backstory and how he came to the resistance, and his voice in that is superb. that and the shattered empire comic series which details the story of poe’s parents. they make poe more layered than how he’s shown in TFA, which was very brief, but reading those materials really made me understand how poe came to be the way he is and how his intentions come from a very earnest place. whenever i feel a little short of muse i like to revisit them again, because it reminds me of things that i may perhaps have forgotten. i refer to the tfa novelization sparingly because it doesn’t really gel in some places and a little puzzling in others when it comes to poe. i like rewatching tfa too, just to watch some of poe’s mannerisms on screen and how i can translate it onto the page.
i also like to read materials from pilots in real life who’ve been flying for a long time, especially in combat situations, it gives a fascinating insight and if possible, i can try incorporating it. also stories about war and leadership and personal optimism, which is a big thing with poe.
additionally, one thing that sort of grabs my goat from time to time is how the fando/m can portray him in such skewed stereotypical fashion like the dreadful ‘hot latino lover’ trope or bloody ‘poe damer.on hurts so prettily’ shit in drabbles, self-inserts and fanfics that both poe and i are like ‘no no no no no’ and we set out to prove that he’s not that. that definitely makes my muse come out of the woodwork and be like ‘LET’S DO THIS.’
❛ your ship... when you crashed, was it totally wrecked? ❜ chapped lips purse and an eyebrow lifts itself as she awaits the woman’s answer with bated breath. ❛ it couldn’t be, right? i mean... you lived, so. ❜

“ ---------- There’s a reason you’re the LIFT, and I’m the NEGOTIATOR.” There was a meeting of what they had in common ---- POWER & DETERMINATION, something that built the rebellion they participated in, one they shed their blood and tears for. Just as there was a reason for the differences between them, Tid’s classes sunshine smile was something that stapled a knowing COOPERATION. “How’s the repairs going?”

poe leaned back, startled at the vehemence of the response to a teasing quip. usually he would have taken his x-wing, but it was still being fixed after suffering proton blasters had taken out an engine the last mission, and he had taken out the closest available ship on a short planetary hop. “ yeah – yeah, that was poor form on my part. i apologize. should’ve asked before i took it. ” he paused, and took a cautious step closer to her, concern in his gaze.
“ is everything ok? ”
The hour is fairly late -- and the Captain does not quite expect to run into much of anyone who would want to carry on much of a conversation that was outside of grunts of acknowledgement. However, in all of Cassian’s time with the Rebellion, they had not had a victory quite as large as the Battle of Yavin -- and he did not quite expect the level of energy that it created, following through the troops like blood in a soldier’s veins. And the only thing he regretted was not being able to see the weapon get blown out of the stars himself. He was beginning to feel much too idle, much too stagnant. So he excused himself to the air outside the base on Hoth. The chill hit his skin in a harsh manner, but it did not seem to bother him much; in fact, in reminded him of the snowy atmosphere of Fest -- which somehow brought a comfort that he was not familiar with. He heard light footsteps, so he pauses and steps to turn over his shoulder -- he doesn’t know her name, but he believes he knows of her. “You were on Scarif.” It wasn’t a question. Perhaps it called for thanks -- genuine gratitude. Albeit, he would instead await a response initially.

”God, forgive me.” ( for dru !! )
“ you believe in god? ” a question of curiosity, really. yet she sounded a little surprised. adi did not come off to be the preaching type -- a turn of the character she knows, “ why ask for forgiveness? ” there are somethings that she cannot wrap her head around, one being the mystery of having a strong belief in a figure.

“ they always send you. an added incentive, i think. i’ll always just take the money but i don’t mind listening to you talk. ” kristen leans back in the booth, absolutely taking over the only good bar on one of the only neutral planets left in the galaxy. it’s only neutral because that’s what the empire wants. it’s harder to get rid of the resistance, in all honesty, without a few mercenaries. those bright, bright green eyes look up towards her guest. maybe it would be easier if the empire wasn’t so controlling, if they didn’t steal freedom or hope, but hey! what does kristen know, she only defected away from her powerful position for that exact reason. kristen’s hand reaches out, palm facing towards adi, the only current peace offering she can give. a handshake.
“ hello adi vye, it’s always a pleasure. ”
