— tainted dignity
they were trying to suffocate her.
at this point, it wasn't the water that was on her mind — it was the stench that filled up the vicinity that was slowly driving her to the edge. whoever was the idea bank of the entire concept of this school was seemingly very good at finding ways to torture the students in the most irritating way possible. first, it was the beasts that roamed the grounds that they walked on, now, it was to flood the entire vicinity with water which its pungent odor pierced through the nose with one quick jab. it was everything she was hoping for, really.
the sounds of the water filling up the empty hallways echoed throughout the school, drowning out the panicked voices of the students as they desperately attempted to scurry out of the building to somewhere dry. it was a futile attempt that a good handful of the students have grasped — this wasn't about luck or chances, it was about survival tactics that will allow them to stay alive. there wasn't a place to run to. one glimpse out the window and she knew that this was another one of the tasks where she just had to face the reality and push through.
as yuji walked down the hallway after separating with her roommate, she couldn't help but to wonder if the exposed skin due to the mandatory uniform was giving her an advantage or hindering her behind. her gaze cascaded down to the murky water that was slowly rising up to the height of her ankle, soaking her pale tennis shoes into a tainted dull shade and sticking her socks onto her skin. the idea of drowning in such water was terrorizing, but after what the first event was, this couldn't be the end of it — there definitely was something coming, but she had no idea what it was going to be. she suddenly stopped and raised her eyebrow upon a sight of a girl who was struggling with something in the water. was that a, yuji blinked, trying to see if her vision was failing on her. it was a fish —
with fucking legs.
"that is really gross." she found herself saying before raising her hand, concentrating on the fish (or whatever species it was) before exploding it into pieces. "oh, watch out—" but it was too late. the exploded parts of the fish landed onto the girl's body. sticking it in all the wrong places.
