It's so funny how every unit in fe3h has at least a few classes they look badass in but as soon as you remove timeskip Dimitri from his huge furry cape and all his canon armor plating the illusion of his model just immediately shatters. He has the same grabbable waist and slender shoulders as almost all the other anime guys in this game.

I'm undecided between mercenary/hero or shaman/druid
On one hand dark magic is cool and I do feel like I would use some kind of magic
On the other hand I really like axes and hero is the only axe class I resonate with, and I also feel like their general stat spread fit me more than shaman

Lance/Clairine: B-: It’s really cute and not a bad ship, I'm just not terribly into shipping Clairine with anyone romantically because she's really young, and I hold a very large flame for Dorothy being the loyal bodyguard to the pride of the Etrurian military, Valkyrie General Reglay, plus smooching and class difference/confidence angst in a post game future. But Lance and Clairine is really cute in an awkward first crush way, and Lance is super diplomatic and knows his duty, which is great.
Ziess-Shin: Well, you already know how important I find Sacean-Bernian friendships as a good sign for Elibe going forward, and Shin learning not to shoot Ziess on sight is still one of his better convos. I can go for this ship any way you want to prepare it: romantic, friendly, or friendly-rivalrous, and goodness do I fall hard for interactions where one member swears to watch the other's back, or they're fighting together as a team. A+ friendship OPT (assuming that OTPs automatically have room for multi-shipping and friendship because Ziess-Fir friendship despite and because of fatherly interference is something I would LOVE to see.
