Blog Update 2025.09.09
August and September are big months for my novelization translations!
The FE2 novelization is now 100% complete, and the FE6 novelization will join it in the 100% club this very Saturday! Those novelizations took so long to finish, it feels like the end of an era! Trading them on-and-off was definitely the right choice for my sanity. The FE2 novelization was crazy hard to see through to the end!
As for what's next? Well, I've been hinting at taking a short break from Fire Emblem, because a change of scenery is necessary every once in a while, and the time has finally come for that. In my queue to post over the next 3 months is...
The Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns novelization!
I do have non-FE interests, who knew? Even I forget sometimes. Ever since I was a kid, my first choice on lazy days has always been to play Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons for hours on end, and Trio of Towns is the pinnacle achievement of the series in my opinion. So I wanted to show it a little love! And since this novel is short and sweet, it was a perfect choice for taking a little FE break. Heck, even if you aren't an SOS fan, I still recommend it if you love all things cute!
I will return to FE novelizations in January 2026 with one of two FE1 novelizations, specifically the Hiroshi Yamaguchi novelization. It is kicking my butt to translate... but is it ever worth the effort! Yamaguchi-sensei felt that he would need around 1,000 pages - or three books - to do the entire plot justice... but he was told that he could only write one book. And so, he opted to gloss over much of the plot and many of the characters, which is very unfortunate... but in exchange, the scenes he did write are all completely original interpretations of the major events of the game! It is stunning to read what he came up with, given how basic video games were in 1990. It is an absolute must read for FE fans in my opinion. Archanea deserved better than the limitations of the Famicom and Super Famicom, and this novelization does so much to make up for what video games lacked at the time.
As for non-novel related translations, they will be low priority for the next 1-2 weeks as I get the FE2 and FE6 novels wrapped up, and make sure everything is good for the SOS novel to start posting. But my main focus right now is the Soleil analysis. Hang in there, and I will see all my tumblr asks and translation requests through to the end in time!
