She’s had a lot of turning points. Part of why she’s embraced chaos and change so much is with how many she’s had. You could say that her father’s death was her first turning point. The moment where she decided she needed to leave the Vault.
Then it was when she left the Vault, and she was quickly introduced to the violence and chaos there and she began focusing on needing to survive.
Her time as a slave [including becoming one and escaping] changed a lot of her life as well. She became harder, more hateful and bitter afterward.
The Buzzcocks being slaughtered was also a major one. She’d already become far less trusting, but that event is what urged her to hunt Deathclaw and become a bounty hunter, pushing herself as far as as she can, nearly getting herself killed in the Process.
Though perhaps being the Courier is one of her biggest turning points. Getting involved in something so large scale, where she played such a major role in it, had an effect on her. She had to own up and be the one to make a difference instead of just letting things happen however they would without her.
That was when she first starting trying to be “good” instead of just surviving and indulging. She had to do a lot of bad to win, but she actually tried to do good for people she didn’t even know.
