It's been a long day at work and Javier was relieved to finally be home. He was alone right now since Squibbles had left work earlier than him to rush home and then head to his Mom and Don's place for the monthly game night. He saw the note on the kitchen counter saying he will be spending the night there and will be home tomorrow.
Stretching his limbs, Javier plopped onto the large couch and sighed heavily, feeling the stress that had been building the past few weeks catch up to him. Truthfully it's been going on longer, but after meeting with Johnny and receiving some calls--he blatantly ignored--from his parents, it was getting difficult just keeping his composure and calm facade. It didn't used to feel this tiring.
A sudden loud "VVVRRRRRRR" sound snapped him out of his thoughts. He checked his phone instantly, but no one was calling. The sound echoed out again throughout the silent condo. He swore, the vibrating ring sounded two times louder than usual. He thought of ignoring until it stopped..
"VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"
Joder. Rolling his eyes, Javier physically tumbled off the couch and onto the floor, face down on the ground, groaning. He would never do this in public, but he was alone, he could act however he felt. Lazily, Javier climbed back to his feet and searched for the source of the ringing. Eventually he found it in his roommate's room. Squibbles must have forgotten his phone in his rush to catch the bus back to his mother's.
He entered the room and quickly picked up the phone, intending on just turning the phone off. However, the name that appeared at the center of the screen made Rios' freeze. He felt his breath stop as he stared at the name, clearly shown...
[Johnny Worthington III: 3 New Messages]
Confused and more than curious at the reason why Squibbles would have Johnny's number, Javier hesitated and didn't turn the phone off. He told himself not to look. Whatever those two had going it must have just been Johnny teasing the poor roommate. He didn't realize that his thumb had brushed against the touch sensitive screen as he adjusted the phone and brought him straight to the text messages.
Minutes of silence passed, but to Javier they felt like hours. His entire form started to shake, almost violently as all four of his eyes read each exchange of words between Johnny and Squibbles.
These were... These were all about him. Everything.
Everything that had happened in the past week since he saw Johnny. His roommate even went into his room and snooped through his laptop... Javier felt himself grow sick to his stomach and felt his entire body tremble with anger, betrayal and....fear.
Rios gasped at the piercing sound and stared back at the hand holding the phone that was now shattered and cracked within his claw-like hand. There were a few cuts in his palm, but he barely felt them. He shook the injured hand, letting the phone fall to the ground near Squibble's desk.
Next moment, he was storming out of the bedroom and back to his own across the living room. He just barely made it until he reached for the closest thing he could grab--which happened to be a bookshelf--and toppled the entire content over. That was the last thing he recalled doing until he leaped off the third floor balcony and called Johnny, furiously texting the message. He didn't trust himself to speak to him through the phone.
