Oh darling don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up It could stay this simple (2006 to 2017)
Hey Taylor,
I know you probably haven’t heard of me or seen me before because I’m not always extremely active (on my tumblr or twitter) and that’s not because I don’t love you to death, I’ve just always been an extremely busy person! I decided I might as well make a post about who I am and how you’ve influenced my life.
The first picture in this photoset of me is when I was in 2nd grade. As you know, 2006 is when your first album came out! It was the year that I fell in love with your music. I was little and really couldn’t relate to any of the songs on your self-titled album, but it didn’t stop me from playing it all the time and dancing around to it. You were all I would listen to.
As time went on and you released new music, I began experiencing new things. First crushes, first backstabs, first kisses, first boyfriends, first dates, first heartbreaks (actually many heartbreaks that hurt really bad everytime), first concert, first bullies, and much more. When you released your Fearless album, I begged my mom to take me to one of your concerts. She ended up taking me and my siblings to see you live at the Cheyenne Frontier Days. My seats were the furthest away from the stage, yet it was the most magical night - and it happened to be my first concert. A side note about Fearless - I promised myself after hearing Fifteen that I would listen to it on my very first day of high school, and I did over and over.
I absolutely love all of your albums, but the one that has impacted me the most is RED (which btw totally deserved that grammy). I went through a really tough time 2 years ago this time of year. I was in an abusive relationship, and eventually sexually assaulted by the guy I was dating at the time. I was 16 and he was 18 at the time. I also lost 2 friends to death exactly one month apart. I ended up taking a month off of school and I was forced into an isolated state by my parents. All I had was music, and I turned completely to RED to help me through the heartbreak of getting out of that relationship and the heartbreak of losing my two friends. As a result, RED is my go-to album in tough times. You don’t know it but you were there for me when I literally had no one else, so thank you for that. (the second picture is from RED Denver).
The other pictures in the photo set show how I’ve grown up over time. I ended up traveling across the country to go to 1989 DC with my mom where I was in the very from of the b-stage pit which was the best night of my life by far. I also went to 1989 Denver (both nights) completely alone because I’ve always struggled with having friends, yet being there I didn’t feel alone, I felt like I belonged for once. So the third picture is from 1989 Denver night 2.
The fourth picture is from my high school graduation, which I feel like I made it to thanks to the guidance of your music. I had a very rough high school experience and found myself very lonely, but I always turned to your music in every downfall or lonely moment. It motivated me to get to that point and to not give up. Another side note - I graduated from Regis Jesuit High School. I’m not sure if you recognize that name, but you actually visited it years ago, before I attended there. So that’s pretty cool!
The final picture is from the beginning of college, which was two months ago. I ended up joining a sorority. The only problem is it has been extremely difficult for me and I feel like a lot of the girls don’t really accept me, so it’s something I’ve been struggling with extremely. I still feel like I’m not accepted into a group. I’ve been listening to your music a ton recently because of the lonliness. College hasn’t been easy for me at all. Mentally and socially, and honestly physically as well (i’ve been getting sick on and off since i got here). I just want you to know that for the past 11 years your music has guided me and helped me feel understood when no one else could understand me. In my loneliest moments and my saddest moments, your music has been my go-to. You have been there for me. For that, I am endlessly thankful.
I love you @taylorswift
I promise to stand by you forever
