Favorite Books I Read in 2021
A Court of Silver Flames (Sarah J. Maas)
"I am the rock against which the surf crashes. Nothing can break me."
From Blood and Ash (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
"Fear and bravery are often one and the same. It either makes you a warrior or a coward. The only difference is the person it resides inside."
A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
"But even so, sometimes, the heartbreak that comes with loving someone is worth it, even if loving that person means eventually saying goodbye to them."
The Crown of Gilded Bones (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
"You are the foundation that helps me stand. You are my walls and my roof. My shelter. You are my home."
Red, White, and Royal Blue (Casey McQuiston)
"But the truth is, also, simply this: love is indomitable."
Fearless Like Us (Krista and Becca Ritchie)
"So hey, all you need to do is live, Sulli. Live your life as awfully wonderful, beautiful, and dangerous as you want."
Caraval (Stephanie Garber)
"She imagined loving him would feel like falling in love with darkness, frightening and consuming yet utterly beautiful when the stars came out."
Legendary (Stephanie Garber)
"She loved the feeling of doing something bold enough to make her future hold its breath while she closed her eyes and reveled in the sensation that she'd made a choice with the power to alter the course of her life."
Finale (Stephanie Garber)
"Occasionally, there are minutes that get extra seconds. Moments so precious the universe stretches to make additional room for them."
Siege and Storm (Leigh Bardugo)
"You two have a bad habit of acting like fools and calling it heroic."
Ruin and Rising (Leigh Bardugo)
"Beauty was your armor. Fragile stuff, all show. But what's inside you? That's steel. It's brave and unbreakable. And it doesn't need fixing."
The Queen of Nothing (Holly Black)
"By you, I am forever undone."
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (Taylor Jenkins Reid)
"It's always been fascinating to me how things can be simultaneously true and false, how people can be good and bad all in one, how someone can love you in a way that is beautifully selfless while serving themselves ruthlessly."
Infamous Like Us (Krista and Becca Ritchie)
"Nothing crushes our spirits, not the helicopter buzzing above us--yeah, that's been there since our feet hit the sand. Nothing brings us down. Not the paparazzi in the chopper capturing photos of our wedding. Not even the boat in the distance or the telephoto lens. This is our life. Our fame is fueled by our existence. Our love. Nothing stops us. Not even time."
A Shadow in the Ember (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
"Were all kisses from a god as dangerously intoxicating as this one?"
All the Young Dudes (MsKingBean89, AO3)
"But you, like... are magic, y'know."
It Ends With Us (Colleen Hoover)
"Cycles exist because they are excruciating to break. It takes an astronomical amount of pain and courage to disrupt a familiar pattern. Sometimes it seems easier to just keep running in the same familiar circles, rather than facing the fear of jumping and possibly not landing on your feet."
buckle up cause i’ve read Wild Like Us, Fearless Like Us and now i started Infamous Like Us and i’m so disappointed in so many ways about Sulli’s character development. it’s like the twins declared war to all of us who love Kitsulli with these last three books. don’t get me wrong, i kinda dig the whole poly thing, but why do they feel the need to butcher up the characters once they get their own books? this never happened with Addicted
BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2021: Fearless Like Us (Like Us, #9) by Krista and Becca Ritchie
“Wild things aren’t meant to be caught,” I breathe. His eyes caress mine.
“You’re not a thing.”
“Then what am I?”
“Mine,” he says. “His.” His lips hover against my ear once more. “Ours.”
that ending with sulli and the flower crown and the video and seeing her telling the world that she's back to compete in olympic games and showing her poly relationship to the world, DAMN, I'M SO FUCKING PROUD AND I LOVE SULLIVAN MEADOWS WITH ALL MY HEART
seeing how the meadows are connected and how strong their love and care for each other really is, MY FAMILY IS THE BEST AND YOUR ARGUMENTS ARE INVALID
Just finished fearless like us and I'M A SOBBERING MESS RIGHT NOW, ALL SNOT AND TEARS AND SORE THROAT FROM SCREAMING AND OH MY GOD, KRISTA AND BECCA, I HAVE NO WORDS FOR THIS BOOK
I have my reasons for not liking Akara as much as I thought I would, with all the tension building up from previous books and all, but it reminds me of something I read in an interview with Sarah J. Maas, in which she basically said that we only know what people are capable of when we start being and living around them, and that we're seeing the story from a different point of view, but dAMN, Akara is always focusing on something else, always on the fucking phone because he has shit do solve and so, and even though he's there with Sulli and Banks and focusing on her, he's not a 100% in there, you know???
And then he says things like 'yeah, I never saw myself in all this' or 'I always imagined you and Banks together, and that's the obvious answer'. But dude, you just promised to be there for her, in the moment with her, to protect and care for her, and sorry, I don't see this breakup as a concise solution for the problems with the media and the papparazzi and everything else. And there's go another reason for me not liking him as I thought I would, and I'm not sorry for that.
