Baby I'm a Fool

Since we (Atha and Jacq) transitioned from coworkers to binge buddies over a shared love of Melody Gardot, and since back in the day Jacq taught Atha how to play this particular tune on the guitar (sniffle!), we figured it was only fitting that our M.Gardot-inspired binge project be the song that started it all. 

This number features Atha Fong on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and bass. She also gets credit for the song's chillaxed swing arrangement. Also, if you look closely, you can see that Atha is literally snapping in the track photo (a candid - seriously!). 

Jacqueline Van Meter is on doowop backup vocals, lead guitar, and tambourine.

Booyah!

The Binge State of Mind, Part II

Binging leads to creating

If you couldn't already tell by the posts here…WE LOVE DAVIE B. And so, inspired by David Byrne's and St. Vincent's recent collaborative project, "Love This Giant," Jacq and I have done a virtually collaborative cover of a song that's been on repeat for me lately: "Devil and the Deed" by Yeasayer off their 2012 record Fragrant World. I hardly know anything about the band, except that they're from Brooklyn and make some seriously creative shizz. BUT what I do know is this: I love the song and can't get enough of it!

This Must Be The Place

After 9 solid months of David Byrne binging, Jacq was inspired to record a version of Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place" on acoustic guitar, with fellow binger Atha Fong on bass and backup vocals. And since David has a track record of occasionally rocking electronic beats, we figured we'd take a cue from him there and let GarageBand do the heavy lifting in the drum department. 

With Jacq currently residing in Atlanta and Atha in San Francisco, we did this completely virtually by emailing each other tracks and compiling them in GarageBand.

Feast Your Eyes: Make Believe Mambo Pie

Well, I decided to make a Thanksgiving key lime pie this year while taking in the sweet, sweet sounds of David Byrne's first official solo album, 1989's Rei Momo.

Who better to instruct me in key lime pie-making - and to jam out to some Latin-flavored grooves with - than my tiny and awesome Honduran grandmother Sonia? Nobody! Obviously!
