4. How did you first develop the idea for your story?

I first made Elias in a picrew when I was getting back into writing and slowly getting into the whump community, and I made up a whumper to match (Cassidy)(Update: now renamed Morrigan). At that point, it was just some guys with wings and a random girl that was torturing him for undecided reasons. But yeah, picrew is a fun place to start if you need ideas for characters :)

9. Fun fact about the author :3

Random Vida Fact: I’m Filipino American! Born in the Philippines, raised in the US, tried and failed to learn Tagalog. (One of my favorite safe foods is puto and y’all should absolutely try it sometime it’s amazinggggg)

what does Elias’ enclosure in the museum look like?

Very empty as of now… Morrigan eventually gets him a couple toys to put in the room that he immediately tears to shreds. For while he's just gonna be the most understimulated bitch in the world while he's in his enclosure. This is also probably why he's so snippy towards Morrigan :>

Morri picked this room for him because all she knows is that they're going to catch a bird creature thing, and she wants to give said creature thing a lot of space to do its creature things. She's not really sure what she's doing going into this

Break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?

Elias would break down completely at a total loss of freedom or not being able to save and help the people he cares about. When he does, he falls into a deep despair. The first time this happened (one of his fundamental childhood traumas), he became incredibly overprotective of his flock, to the point of turning on other flock members that he perceived to be a possible threat. While he isn't this excessive anymore, he hasn't entirely let go of his need to defend his flock (hence, the immediate and permanent neutralization of all humans within reach). The entire flock saw him at his first lowest low. They all saw the cause, and they all saw the effects it had on Elias.

But that first low won't hold the top spot for much longer. Further into the story, he hits a new lowest low. At this low, the only people who know what's actually going on, is the person at the root of the problem, and Morrigan. This low for Elias is also Morrigan's lowest low, and marks her whumpee arc :)

3) What do you think about whumper?

“Morri? Oh, the word that Marjorie said,” he mutters to himself, trying to find the right word from the modern English language. “Morri is what I believe is called an ‘asshole’. I think. I don't like her. She is mean.” He continues to mumble to himself, mulling over the complex stupidity of English.

5) Do you have any rules?

“Like, here? I think there's more specific rules for visitors than for myself. Morrigan is very lenient with me compared to the other creatures. She says I’m her favorite right now, but I didn’t really believe it until I tore up all the towels and she didn’t seem to care that much. She got more mad at one of her work friends for eating her mangoes. I guess one rule that applies to almost everyone is that nobody is allowed to eat Morrigan's food.”

12) Have you ever killed? Would you?

He answers the question with no hesitation. “Yes. I don’t know how many humans I have killed anymore. I stopped counting long ago.” He pauses to contemplate his next words. “Eden doesn’t like it when I kill people. Now I try to scare hunters badly enough that they won’t return instead of killing them. I think we both have similar goals. We both want to protect the people we care about. I care a lot about how he feels, so if I have to use less effective and not permanent methods of getting rid of hunters, I will. For Eden.” He starts to tear up at the thought, but quickly brushes off the tears before anything of substance can spill out.

“...I'm not sure. I don't entirely know what ███ ████████ wants from Elias, nor myself. The most I can say is that the museum isn't what you think it is.”

17) Do you have any pet peeves?

“For the museum staff, it's when people steal my food from the fridge. Marjorie stole my mangoes from the fridge once and I'll never forgive her. As for the museum display creatures, it's when they give me the silent treatment. Like, I know that you don't like me, but I would rather you tell it to my face than ignore me!!!”

These are the most recent ones I've mde, but the first one I ever made of him is by far the most accurate to my initial vision. ⬇️

His eye color is the problem I get with most picrews. His eyes are more of a blue-green/turquoise shade; something I haven't been able to capture on most other picrews I try. The one on the top left is by far the second-most accurate picrew I've found :3

what type of music does Elias listen to? since he’s an avian, does he like whistle or sing like a bird for fun/comfort?

One thing about Elias is that he vehemently HATES shitty contemporary pop music. This is mostly because if he leaves the forest, he can’t escape it. People in their cars with their windows down and their mediocre music blasting so loud you can feel it vibrating in your sinuses, people in third spaces and public areas on social media who can’t be bothered to mute their devices or get a cheap pair of earphones, or tone-deaf people who only listen to whatever’s trendy, trying and failing to sing and forcing anyone nearby to listen and suffer. If he could escape the pop music for more than five minutes, he might be able to find anything better. He would like alternative folk music. In another world, he would also like indie, but most indie songs still verge to close to pop for his liking.

He would like The Crane Wives and The Oh Hellos, and specific favorite songs would be Fire and the Flood (Vance Joy), The Moon Will Sing (The Crane Wives), Thus Always to Tyrants, and Constellations (The Oh Hellos)

Ravens make more of a squawking/cawing sound, which he does caw at humans for the fun of it. As time goes on while he’s in the museum, his caws start to turn into a gentle whistle, melodic, and unlike any pre-established avian species’ song. He would whistle for comfort if he could, but certain unrevealed external forces prevent him from being anything except perceived perfection.
