Quick Rant
Today I found one of my own photos featured on a very famous Instagram account. While this may sound like a good thing, I was given no credit for my photo. The problem was eventually solved after me kindly asking for credit and getting yelled at by her 107K followers for “freaking out”. One person even said “You don’t deserve to be featured if this is how you’re going to act.”
Here’s the thing, I did not ask to be featured. And I sure as hell do not care about being featured. But more importantly, I do NOT want to be featured if you cannot provide proper credit. That is called stealing.
As a bit of advice, all I can say is this. If you have an Instagram that falls under the category of a “feature account” in which you feature other people’s work, DO IT CORRECTLY. If you are not going to take the time to find, tag or credit the correct source YOU SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING A FEATURE ACCOUNT. Furthermore, if you do run a feature account and you cannot find the source - do not post the photo. It’s very simple. Do your research. Be respectful. The end.
